Spiced Pork Goulash, Fluffy Flour Rolls, and Tender Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, cut into cubes
  • 4 cups chopped green cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the pork cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.
  3. Add paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add beef broth and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 1-2 hours, until the pork is tender.
  5. While the goulash is simmering, prepare the flour rolls. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter and stir until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. In a large skillet, sauté the chopped cabbage with a bit of olive oil until tender.
  8. Serve the pork goulash with flour rolls and sautéed cabbage on the side.
