Crispy pork belly

Ingredients for 4 portions

800 g Pork
2 Pcs Onions
4 Pcs Bay leaves
500 ml Water
1 Tbsp Thyme, chopped
1 Tbsp Rosemary, chopped
1 Bottle Beer, small
3 Tbsp Honey
2 Tbsp Shan’shi Soy Sauce

Preparation

  1. Rinse the meat in cold water and place it in a large pot with cold water. Peel the onion, cut it in half, and add it to the pot with the bay leaves.
  2. Bring the water to a boil, reduce the heat by half, and let the meat cook uncovered for 40 minutes. Remove the meat from the pot and score the top side with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern.
  3. Put beer, honey, soy sauce, thyme, and rosemary in a small pot, bring to a boil briefly, and brush the scored side of the meat with this mixture. Place the pork belly in a baking dish and let it cook in the oven at 220 degrees for 30 minutes.
  4. Brush the meat with the sauce repeatedly. Then remove it from the oven and let it rest for another 5 minutes.
