  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine (mirin)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Steamed rice, for serving
  • Lettuce leaves, for wrapping
  • Kimchi and pickled vegetables, for serving

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced green onions, rice wine, toasted sesame seeds, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl and let the beef marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Working in batches, cook the marinated beef slices for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and caramelized. Transfer the cooked beef to a plate and repeat with the remaining slices.
  4. Serve the Korean BBQ Beef Bulgogi with steamed rice and lettuce leaves. To enjoy, take a lettuce leaf, place a small portion of beef inside, add some kimchi and pickled vegetables, and wrap it up like a taco.
  5. Enjoy the delicious combination of flavors and textures!
